The River Festival was created with the underlying purpose of bringing creative arts out from enclosed spaces into the public, for everyone to enjoy and participate.

The first edition took place on one Saturday each month over the Kolkata cultural season from Nov 2019 – Feb 2020 at the iconic Prinsep Ghat & Indian Museum.

Season 2 of the River Festival included 3 days of short pop up performances at Champatala Ghat & Ahiritola Launch Ghat. The festival finale was the screening of the film The Dying Ghats of Calcutta by Poulomee & Atreyee at the Birla Academy of Art & Culture.
